Iranian Civilization

This site has two major objectives.

(1) To provide links to discussions and papers relevant to understanding Iranian Civilization. This should be helpful both to Iranians and all people who want to know more about Iranian Civilization.

(2) To raise the question in the minds of all peoples, Iranians and others, as to the value of historical legacies in the modern world. We are all aware that histories can be used to foment narrow nationalisms (even America's short history) with attendant hostilities and wars. But can improving a people's knowledge of its past also be used to develop ambition and pride in a people that enhances their contribution to humanity without hostility? We hope that visitors will have thoughts on whether and how this outcome might be accomplished.
